    Three-Month Average Volume: 2.76 million

From a technical perspective, AVNR bounced modestly higher here right off its 50-day moving average of $4.42 with lighter-than-average volume. This move is starting to push shares of AVNR within range of triggering a big breakout trade. That trade will hit if AVNR manages to take out some near-term overhead resistance levels at $4.71 to $5.07 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in AVNR as long as it's trending above some near-term support at $4.20 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 2.76 million shares. If that breakout hits soon, then AVNR will set up to re-test or possibly take out its 52-week high at $6.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Andrew Marder]

    Wholesale growth
On the wholesale side of the business, Fossil is really playing to its strengths. Last quarter, wholesale revenue rose 13.5%, with the European division seeing the strongest growth. That business competes most directly with the Movado Group (NYSE: MOV  ) , which produces watches for most of the designers that Fossil doesn't cover. To compare, Movado's revenue was up just 6.1% last quarter. Fossil's edge came from the company's strong portfolio of brands -- which is what we're going to call a segue.

Movado Group (NYSE: MOV) shares reached a new 52-week low of $33.49. Movado's trailing-twelve-month profit margin is 8.48%.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Sean Williams]

    Where's the beef, DexCom?
Sometimes a company's products make a lot of sense on paper, but the practical application doesn't go nearly as smoothly. This is how I'd describe medical monitoring device maker DexCom (NASDAQ: DXCM  ) , which has an array of glucose monitoring devices to help diabetes patients better manage their disease. Make no mistake about it; the number of diabetes diagnoses in this country is rising in accord with our obesity rate. Therefore, a company like DexCom, which makes the DexCom G4 System monitor, could be a big hit, and certainly has a wide enough audience to cater to.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By David Sterman]

    2. Halcon Resources (NYSE: HK) Insiders bought more than $2 million of this energy exploration firm in early August as part of a secondary share offering priced at $5.10 a share. In the past 10 days, as shares have slipped below the $5 mark, insiders have continued to accumulate shares.

Halcon has a legion of fans in the financial blogosphere, and this recent post typifies the bullish sentiment of some.

  • [By Aimee Duffy]

    A look ahead
Despite these record numbers, by most accounts the Eagle Ford is just getting started. Tens of billions of dollars are being invested in the play this year, which means there will likely be many bright days ahead for South Texas. In fact, parts of the play have barely been tapped into. Consider the work that Halcon Resources (NYSE: HK  ) is doing in the East Texas portion of the play. The company announced earlier this month that production results from the last two wells it drilled are 18% higher than any well it has drilled in the area so far. On top of that, the output is 94% crude oil.
